Regional Health Corporation - Masaryk Hospital in Usti nad Labem is one of the largest and most modern health care institutions in the country. It belongs to pioneers and propagators of modern management systems of quality and despite its regional status it focuses on continuous development of science and education in the area of eHealth.As a leading health care institution in Usti Region, long-term provider of access to National Research Network and co-participant of CESNET research projects, the hospital had been looking for the way how to provide services of broadbaned Internet to other hospitals in the region and mostly to their clients - visitors, patients. In September 2006 Masaryk Hospital started realization of an extend project "Public Internet in the network of Usti Region hospitals" accepted and financed from public resources within "Common Regional Operational Program" The purpose ot the project is to implement broadband Internet into 5 hospitals of Usti Region to provide access of public, including professional public, to information technologies, specifically to broadband Internet. General goals of the project: Regional Health Corporation - Masaryk Hospital in Usti nad Labem has decided to create a uniformly managed network in the region that will be interconnected with dark fiber network with throughput backbone 10 Gbps usingi IPv6 a IPv4. In 5 hospitals is accessible Public Internet Access Points (PIAP - Points) for public.
Masaryk hospital wanted to fulfill following goals:Making infrastructure and services of information and communication technologies in Usti Region stronger,Improving regional and local communication networks in Usti Region, Improving the access of all groups of public (including disabled patients and patients with lower orientation) to public information through the PIAP, Using the infrastructure for regional Health care information systems, Using the infrastructure for other projects and IS.
